The Perfect Italian Kitchen Remodel for Your Home

Bringing the simplistic luxury of the Tuscan countryside home can be very tempting. With its lush rolling hills, warm sunshine, and some of the famous vineyards in the world, Italy is naturally gorgeous. You can give an Italian touch to your home, by doing an Italian kitchen remodel.

It doesn’t take a fortune to create your dream Italian kitchen. Depending on the extent of the remodel, you could fit it well within your budget. With a few basic guidelines and your own creative touches, your Italian kitchen will be well on its way. Here are a few things to get you started:

Color Schemes: Tuscan colors tend to be warm and inviting earth tones. Use rusty maroons, mustard yellows, burnt oranges or umbers, olive greens, and accents of tarnished gold, bronze, or copper to your kitchen. It’s usually good to choose just 2 or 3 colors from this palette that work well together. Try to keep all furniture and décor within this color scheme. You could even match your dinnerware and crockery to the scheme.

Walls and Floors: Once you’ve chosen a color for your walls and floor tiles, you’ll need to consider textures that evoke Italian living. Floor tiles can be stucco and stone-like, while the walls can be painted to match your color palette. Wall tiles can also include images of plants, vegetables, or Mediterranean fruits. Backsplash tiles in rough-hewn stone textures also add a touch of authenticity.

Countertops: For your countertops, stick with traditional granite for a typical Tuscan feel. If you’re feeling adventurous, and if it fits in your budget, you could have wooden countertops in deep shades of brown or red. If you’re planning to take your traditional kitchen design into a modern setting, stainless steel countertops can be a good choice too. Just remember to balance their coldness with warm tones everywhere else.

Decorations and Accessories: Other highlights such as décor and fixtures should be traditional as much as possible. Add things that you may find in a typical Italian kitchen like bottles of olive oil, jars of spices and herbs, rough wooden cutting boards, as well as fancy wine racks. You might want to have some hooks to hang your pots and pans, and maybe even a rack to hold some spoons and ladles. Adding a pot or two of fresh herbs in your kitchen window will light up your kitchen instantly.
