Our Malibu Property featured in Digs Magazine

by Ian Phillips

Our newest property has been featured in the newest issue of DIGS Magazine pushing the bar on the Modern Industrial luxury home. 5664 Calpine Drive is an Architectural wonderland designed by local designer/builder Michael Torrey. Amongst entering through the 6×10 custom Corten steel pivot entry door you are instantly greeted with the mesmerizing mountain-side, framed in the first family room. Upon venturing further into the heart of the house the expansive nature of the design opens up to you, so much so, the house perfectly compliments the natural beauty surrounding it. With the best of both worlds you feel like you are surrounded by raw Californian nature whilst standing in your own home.

In this quiet neighborhood kids skateboard and bike down the serine winding streets. They greet equestrians trotting along out for their daily ride. With the windows open, from the kitchen you can hear birds chirping and smell the ocean air all while you drink your morning coffee. The kitchen has wide plank oak floors and custom cabinets which seamlessly blend together maintaining the beauty and design of the space.

This is a home that will adjust to your needs. During the week you can go downstairs to the basement level room and enjoy a movie and popcorn in your in-home theater with your closest friends and family. On the weekends the house is ready to open its doors to a few hundred people and become the life of the party. With the floor to ceiling windows open the house becomes perfectly balanced making the home the ideal setting for a charity event or small performance venue. The options are endless.

The house design cleverly capitalizes on the magnificent view of the Santa Monica Mountains which can be seen throughout the house. From the Master bedroom, guest bedrooms, family rooms and kitchen there is not a bad seat in the home; and on a warm summers day you can take a dip in the exquisite 60-foot-long infinity pool and spa. Then wash off in the outdoor shower adjacent to the indoor shower in the master bathroom. This house is more than a home. It is a place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, your very own vacation retreat, a place to recharge and unwind, and a place to bring people together.
