The future of home automation systems

The current building standards used by Malibu general contractors typically include a home automation system. These systems have rapidly evolved since the turn of the century to include a vast array of features and integration that we see in today’s whole house integrated systems.

Malibu general contractors, coastal builders, and designers use home automation systems that include features, such as upgradability, energy savings, security, interface options, expandability, and remote access control.  Most Malibu general contractors install home automation systems made by Elan, Crestron, Control4, Vantage, and Savant. We believe that one day these types of systems will be standard in every home, not just in designer homes or in coastal homes typically built by Malibu general contractors.

We are starting to see glimpses of what the near future may bring as more integration occurs in consumer entertainment systems. One example is Microsoft’s SmartGlass application that was announced this year to be released this Fall. SmartGlass will transform a phone or tablet into a second screen for your TV and will work with all the major operating systems, such as Windows, iOS, and Android.  This new system includes various OS’s and could have the potential for many more devices and manufacturers to join the SmartGlass party.

As a local custom home designer and Malibu general contractor, we are excited for what the future will bring to create new possibilities for our clients’ in building their dream homes.
